Stupa Visiting Hours

Visiting Hours

The White Jewel Mountain Enlightenment Stupa is open to the public during daylight hours every day of the year. Advance notice is not required to visit the stupa.

We ask visitors to be mindful of any retreats or private activities in progress and to follow the guidance provided on signs throughout the property. Please help us preserve a peaceful and respectful environment for practitioners, retreatants, and fellow visitors.

Stupa Visitor Amenities

Visitor parking and wheelchair-accessible areas are available. Public restrooms and drinking water are not currently available, so visitors should plan accordingly.

Retreatant Amenities

Retreatants will have access to drinking water and restrooms. Note: There is currently only one (1) wheelchair-accessible bathroom.

Pet Policy

During an official teaching or event: For the comfort and safety of your pet and others, pets are not allowed to attend teachings or events with you. Service animals are, of course, welcome (see below).

When visiting at other times: Pets are welcome on the grounds (not indoors) but must remain on a leash at all times. Please keep pets under control and clean up after them to help protect the grounds and maintain a peaceful environment.

Service Animal Policy: We welcome individually trained Service Animals in all public areas of our facility in strict compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Per federal regulations, a service animal is defined strictly as a dog (or miniature horse) that has been individually trained to do work or perform specific tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. All service animals must remain housebroken and under the direct control of their handler at all times.

Seasonal Conditions and Safety

Watch your step! This Center is built on very rocky terrain. Mountain weather and road conditions can change quickly. Visitors may encounter snow or ice during colder months and muddy roads during wet weather. A high-clearance vehicle is recommended when road conditions are difficult.

Fire danger can be significant during dry periods. No open flames or embers on campus during personal or group retreats or events. This includes candles and incense unless part of a staff monitored activity such as puja, tsok, Riwo Sangchö etc.  Visitors must observe all current fire restrictions and fire bans.

Wildlife Precautions

White Jewel Mountain is located in a natural mountain environment shared with deer, coyotes, black bears, mountain lions, snakes, and other wildlife. Encounters are uncommon, but visitors should remain aware of their surroundings and observe the following precautions:

• Never approach, feed, touch, or disturb wildlife.
• Give all animals plenty of space, especially animals with young.
• Keep children nearby and pets on a leash at all times.
• Do not leave food, pet food, trash, or other scented items unattended.
• Stay on established paths and watch where you step, particularly near rocks, brush, and tall grass.
• Be especially attentive around dawn and dusk, when many animals are most active.
• If you encounter a large animal, remain calm, do not run, and slowly create distance while allowing the animal a clear route to leave.
• Report aggressive, injured, or unusually behaving wildlife to White Jewel Mountain staff.
